In June 2016, the South Coast AQMD embarked on an aggressive effort to expeditiously reduce its pending permit application inventory.  To assist with this effort and improve permit processing efficiency, the Governing Board approved an action plan that included measures to optimize use of current resources and opportunities to modernize and automate the permit process.  The dashboard tool was developed to track progress in reducing the pending permit application inventory and help communicate the age of pending applications.

The South Coast AQMD achieved its goal in May 2018, and continues to monitor working application inventories to maintain efficiencies, including for pending applications with and without Permits to Construct issued.
