Compliance Assistance Class: Rule 1176 Sumps & Wastewater Separator Inspector Certification Class

To register for the Rule 1176 Sumps & Wastewater Separator Inspector Certification Class, please submit a completed registration form (PDF, 904 KB) to Rule1176class@aqmd.gov.

South Coast AQMD Rule 1176 requires that the inspection and monitoring of sumps & wastewater separators at petroleum refineries, oil production fields, chemical plants, and industrial facilities be performed by a Rule 1176 Certified Inspector.

To become a certified inspector, individuals must complete the Rule 1176 Sumps & Wastewater Separator Certified Inspector class and successfully pass the exam.

Please note that CARB Training Course #395 is no longer offered, therefore South Coast AQMD has integrated critical information relative to fugitive emissions into the Rule 1176 class.

Class Information:

  • Location: Diamond Bar, Room CC6
  • Next scheduled class: Wednesday, January 24, 2024
  • Time: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
  • No prerequisites required.

  • Parking is Free.

  • Blue Sky Cafe serves breakfast, lunch, and snacks (located inside the lobby).

  • Public Restrooms are located in the Main Lobby.

Registration Information for South Coast AQMD Rule 1176 Class:

  • Pre-registration is required to secure a seat in the class as it is limited due to the size of the training room. Registration form must be electronically submitted (emailed) at least 7 days prior to date of the class.
  • To register for the Rule 1176 class, please submit a completed r1176-reg-form (PDF, 904 KB) to Rule1176class@aqmd.gov.
  • Class fee is $77.21 per person (cash or check only; there is an ATM located in the lobby. No credit card payments can be accepted).  Registration and payment will be confirmed prior to entry into the training room. Please being a Driver’s License/ID Card to the attend class.
  • Certificate will be provided after successful completion of the course and receipt of payment.

Expiration/Renewal Certification:

Rule 1176 Certification is valid for only three years from date of certification. To renew the certification, inspectors need to retake the Rule 1176 class Sumps & Wastewater Separator Certified Inspector class.
